Other information

Becky Pippert is one of the most effective communicators of the gospel I know. God uses her unique talents to appeal to both the mind and the heart. Becky's deep understanding of Biblical truth combined with her passion to see new believers grow in Christ makes LIVE a thrilling study for anyone who has recently been converted or is ready to make a commitment to Christ. I wish this captivating material had been available when I served as a pastor for forty years in Louisville, Kentucky. I would have made it available to every new convert. Pastors will find LIVE a very practical course for deepening the faith of new believers.
- Bob Russell, retired founder and Sr. Minister, Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY.

These studies by Becky Pippert are clear and accessible, yet substantial and thoughtful explorations of how to be grounded and grow in Christian faith. They evidence years of experience working with people at all stages of belief and skepticism. I highly recommend them.
- Tim Keller, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City

In recent years Becky has been exercising an extraordinary evangelistic and teaching ministry all over Europe, the most secular continent in the world. She knows the crying need for a Discipleship Course to nourish, among others, the many thousands turning to Christ through her evangelistic ministry and her Seeker Bible study from Luke’s gospel. Now she has provided it, in three booklets, Live, Grow, Know. The course is imaginative, interactive, accessible, practical and thoughtful. Live is the first one, on Christian beginnings, ideal for those considering the faith or new to it. This course looks to be gold dust, and will fill an enormous and long- standing gap. I commend it with joy and confidence.
- The Rev Canon Dr Michael Green, author, speaker and theologian

Anyone interested in exploring the Christian faith need look no further than this stimulating, sensible and sensitive course from a wise and experienced guide. Highly recommended!
- Revd Canon J.John - Speaker + Author

'Live' is ideal for any new follower of Jesus, or for anyone seriously exploring the Christian faith. It is also a much-needed resource for churches wishing to equip their members for the great journey of faith.
- Os Guinness, author of The Call

Clear and palatable, this resource asks and answers many of the hard questions shared by both non-Christians and young believers. I highly recommend it to those want to get to know Christ.
- Dr D. Michael Lindsay, President of Gordon College

Very clear and helpful, spiced with arresting quotations and telling insights. A fine, natural, engaging, resource for evangelistic bible study groups and personal study too.
- Josh Moody, Senior Pastor, College Church, Wheaton, Illinois

Becky is a sparkling communicator whose enthusiasm for bringing people seeking God into contact with the Bible has been contagious in many different countries. I believe this series of studies will be a great help in uncovering more of God's heart for people everywhere.
- Charlie Cleverly, Rector of St Aldates Church

Becky Pippert is a master of evangelism and discipleship. Her new book LIVE is a remarkable tool to help people not only share Christ in a credible manner but leads people towards discipleship at the same time. “Very good”

(Review written for 'Live (Handbook)')

I used this with a small group of people with very different backgrounds - ie both assured and non-assured Christians with varying levels of Biblical knowledge. A couple were used to Bible Studies which others had never attended one. The material was very easy to use and the questions ensured that we focussed on the teaching in God's Word. Group members also found the Life Stories very helpful and the Further Study section was very helpful for those wanting to know more. The whole group found it very helpful.

“Perfect material for our group”

(Review written for 'Live (Handbook)')

We're using the 'live' DVD and discussion book with six women who have completed the alpha course. They are all new/ returning believers and this material has been just right for helping us to get into the bible together. really great!

“helpful resource but assumes conversion by week 5!”

(Review written for 'Live (Handbook)')

The professional quality of this resource is excellent and the three testimonies each week are a nice addition to the DVD material and one can pick and choose the testimonies most relevant to your own group. The teaching is good, if a little academic for some. Rebecca Manley-Pippert explains many passages of scripture well in the DVD excerpts and she is easy to listen to and understand.

However, for all it's positives we found we had to supplement and cut-out parts in order to tailor the studies to our group of mainly unconverted 'churched' -types. Also, although it can be run as an hour session which ours was (roughly), there was still a lot crammed into each session. Perhaps a little too much. We felt the course moves far quicker than it should to assuming by session 5 that the group will be mainly the converted by this point. While this is surely possible, it certainly hasn't happened with our group and so we are actually making up the last session ourselves with a study on Romans and other passages as we feel our group still does not understand what repentance is and therefore does not appreciate the power and need for grace.

I would use this course with an understanding that you must pick and choose the parts that are most relevant to the individuals present and perhaps extend the sessions to a few more weeks to cover elements of salvation, like sin, atonement, judgement, repentance and conversion , that the sessions don't adequately cover in 5 weeks. We have learned that there are no short-cuts to thorough gospel teaching so it's a shame the course isn't more like 12 weeks long. I think it's fair to say that in 5 weeks you are really going to be only scratching at the surface of what a relationship with Christ looks like and most importantly, why we need it.

Thanks for your review, Roz. Glad you found the testimonies useful.

I think it's worth saying that LIVE is intended as a follow-on course for those who've already done an evangelistic course or have an understanding of the gospel message. So it's not trying to go back over the content in resources such as Christianity Explored or Uncovering the Life of Jesus. It's trying to be a follow-on, not assuming faith (or lack of it). And yes, Session Five is speaking about the Christian life, but we'd tried to couch it in terms that someone still considering the claims of the gospel could enjoy looking at it as an 'interested outsider'.

I guess if the course were 12 weeks long, lots of people wouldn't run it because they'd feel it was too long!
