When children think about the marks of a Christian, they may first think of things Christians do. But it’s also essential for us to teach kids who Christians are. That’s exactly what Dr. Begg does in C Is for Christian. This beautifully illustrated alphabet catechism will help the next generation learn and remember the Bible’s many vivid depictions of Christian identity.

A beautiful treasury of thoughts with wonderful, thoughtful illustrations. The perfect gift for children of any age and something for them to treasure forever.
This book is such a blessing to our family! I've been going through an alphabet letter each day with my kids over breakfast, and it has been so edifying! The text is engaging and easy to understand (my kids are 7 and under), and the illustrations are beautiful. I love the questions to help us reflect what we've learnt each day, and we take turns praying for one another with the suggest prayer at the end. What has been also life-giving is that we began to memorise Scripture as a result of this book (there is a Bible verse for each letter). Thank you so much for this wonderful resource!
P.S. I've received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Is it good to be a Christian? In C is for Christian, Alistair Begg presents an A to Z treasury of who we are in Christ.
Far and Deep
I love that this book begins with my favorite reality – that we are adopted by God. Each letter provides an opportunity to talk about Gospel realities with your children – N is for new creation, P is for pilgrim, S is for sent, and V is for victorious.
Each letter is accompanied by a quick devotion, short discussion questions, and a small prayer. The book will allow you to go surprisingly far and deep with your kids!
Great and Glorious
The illustrations by Emma Skerratt are gorgeous, with captivating colors and beautiful detail. They have a classic charm, making the entire book a wonderful work of art.
The message of this book is not only is it good to follow Jesus – but it is great, and it is glorious!
I received a media copy of C is for Christian and this is my honest review.
I think this book would be a great addition to every Christian family's bookshelf. You can read one letter a day as a short but rich devotion with your kids. And the illustrations are so lovely! All around a wonderful book.
🕯️ C is for Christian 🕯️
This delightful little alphabet family devotional far exceeded my expectations.
💕 What’s it about?
For each letter of the alphabet a certain aspect of who we are in Christ is focused on, such as V for victorious.
There is a related verse, delightful illustration, a thoughtful reflection, discussion questions and a closing prayer for each section.
💕 Who’s it for?
Families with young children. We have ages 7, 4 and 2 at home and it has been perfect for us.
đź’• Concluding thoughts
We love it! We’ve been using it daily and have found it to be engaging, enriching and a very simple way to engage our children in rich biblical truth. Starting our day beautifully 🥰
đź’• Things to consider
We had to explain a few points a little bit, as the way it was written may be a bit confusing. This may not be the case for you and your family though. As always, no book (outside of the Bible) will be perfect, and so occasionally you may feel the need to flesh out a point or two.
Thank you TGBC for generously providing this copy in exchange for our honest thoughts. We love it!
A great book that can be used with young children as a devotional each day. Would be a great month long study to do with your family on a regular occurance. The illustrations are GORGEOUS and these are such good truths to teach ourselves and our children about what a Christian is.
I received C is for Christian compliments of The Good Book Company in exchange for my honest review.
C is for Christian is the first children’s book by pastor and author Alistair Begg. The book begins with Begg’s encouragement, “I hope that, as you read, you’ll become more and more amazed by all the God has done and is doing for his people—for every Christian, however young or old. And I pray that you’ll want to become or continue to be, a Christian yourself.”
Begg wrote C is for Christian to help little ones understand what it means to be a Christian. Using 26 words, one for each letter of the alphabet, children learn one aspect of being a Christian. The words Begg selected are based on words and concepts from the Bible and each one includes a Bible verse to support it and a brief commentary by Begg. For example, the page dedicated to the letter “c” includes the word citizen and Philippians 3:20.
The book is formatted like a devotional and each of the 26 entries concludes with a few questions or things to think about and a prayer. The illustrations are stunning and the book includes a ribbon bookmark making it a lovely gift idea for children. C is for Christian concludes with a captivating two page spread that contains all the letters of the alphabet making this resource helpful for teaching young readers the Bible and their ABCs. While this is a children’s resource, adult readers are sure to benefit from it too. This is one of my new favorite Christian books for kids and I highly recommend it!
I was very excited to see this book being released by @thegoodbookcompanyusa and it does not disappoint! The illustrations are beautiful and very child-oriented. The words of wisdom from Alistair Begg are exactly like listening to his sermons - full of grace and wisdom and the power of the gospel. Each two-page spread has 1 full page color illustration on one side and the corresponding text on the other. It goes through every letter of the alphabet detailing characteristics of a Christian. There is scripture below every illustration, 2 questions to prompt discussion as well as a prayer to end the reading. This is a fantastic book to go through with children. You could do 1 letter each day and incorporate it into family dinners, bedtime routines, or anytime you have a few moments together. There are also free printable files on The Good Book Company’s website that include an alphabet poster, worksheets for every letter, and a fill in the blank chart. The homeschool mom in me loves worksheets that go along with books! Such an easy lesson to add to our homeschool day.
I absolutely love this treasury! With beautiful illustrations, thoughtful devotions, engaging questions, and heartfelt prayers, I am thrilled to be adding this to our Morning Time routine so that my girls can be even more encouraged to praise, worship, and give thanks to Jesus, but also to grow in rich theological truths.
I also love the free complementary resources that are provided on The Good Book Company’s website, which are perfect for parents and homeschoolers looking to further engage their children during the reading.
This would also make a wonderful gift for an expecting mother or little one’s first birthday!
Thank you, The Good Book Company, for my copy in exchange for an honest review. What a blessing this is to have in our home!
