“Beautiful, edifying, and thought-provoking!”
These 40 daily devotions leading up to Easter include: an accompanying verse, reflection, and prayer that add no more than 3-5 minutes to your day; however, you will find yourself in âdeep thought and quiet contemplationâ beyond those brief minutes. It will stir-up a fire within you, especially if you've been suffering from "gospel amnesia."
Alistair Begg called this devotional, âreally, really good.â And I not only concur, but would raise him to, âincredibly good!â It made my heart, soul, and mind feel at peace as we start this new year. I know this is an Easter devotional, but it can truly be read any time of the year. Donât we all need constant reminders of Christâs great love for us? His mercy? His grace? Spurgeonâs ability to describe Jesusâ heart and to remove all your doubt and hesitations about running to Him is unsurpassed. Jesus is gentle, compassionate, and lowly. He is approachable.
I find it remarkable that there is so much material from Spurgeonâs lifetime that even though he has been with the Lord for over 130 years, new books by him can still be released. While the editor added minor things and modernized some wording, overall, this is all Spurgeonâs voice. From Day 1 you will feel refreshed and adored by the One who made an end of sin forever because of His love and grace. Spurgeon will make your heart cry for "Jesus only!"
Thank you to The Good Book Company for sending me a copy of this beautiful, edifying, and thought-provoking devotional in exchange for my honest review. It has encouraged me to be âflinty-faced in my walk and mission with Christ.â
