Help kids ages 3+ to understand the story of the gospel and apply it to their lives in a way that suits their age and stage.
Part of the Training Young Hearts series.
Empower kids ages 3+ to connect the gospel to their own actions and attitudes! From creation and fall to redemption and sanctification, this colorful rhyming storybook captures the beauty of the gospel message through simple, practical, rhyming language and illustrations that children will love to engage with.
Focusing on the way we use our mouths, Abbey Wedgeworth helps children to see that God gave their words real power, and that this power can be used to heal or to harm. But we're not left on our own to do the right thing—we can look to Jesus as our example, ask God for forgiveness when we mess up, and receive the help of the Holy Spirit as we use our mouths for God's glory!
With bright illustrations and fun rhymes, this storybook will inspire and equip your children to follow Jesus in word and deed.

I love the Training Young Hearts series for kids. These are concrete, practical, gospel-centered books that will help young children make meaningful connections. What great resources for parents and educators!
I am incredibly excited about these new books from Abbey Wedgeworth. Engaging, helpful, and full of truth, these books are sure to become a favorite in your home!
One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of God’s grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.
I just love the Training Young Hearts series from The Good Book Company. We have had the privilege of reviewing several books in this series and every single one of them have been fabulous options for young kids to learn Gospel truths.
Scripture is saturated with teachings on our mouths - the danger they can be or the blessing they can be. This version is specifically written for children ages 3+ while it's companion Lift-The-Flap What Are Mouths For? book is written for toddlers. The concepts are identical but a bit more detailed in this version.
The Gospel is clearly expressed throughout the book and the illustrations are beautifully engaging.
My only critique, which has been the same for all of them within this series, is an appendix that provides specific scripture references for parents to discuss in more detail with their children. The book is a great tool, but ultimately we want to direct our kids straight to scripture.
A wonderful option for young kids!
I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.
This book focuses on the way your mouth (teeth, tongue, lips, and voice) can be used for good or bad. I think how this series always points back to Jesus - in this case how Jesus used his voice/mouth.
Another gem by Abbey Wedgeworth! Your Magnificent Mouth teaches littles (ages 3-7) how to glorify God with their mouths. It shows how we use our mouths to blow bubbles, sing, shout, and make silly faces, then highlights how Jesus used His mouth to obey, bless, and forgive—setting the perfect example for us. Gospel-rich and perfect for your home or church library, I’m a huge fan of the Training Young Hearts series!
Another great book in the A Training Young Heart Series! Short phrases, rhyming words, coloful pictures, and big truths that teach young children who made their mouths and why their mouths were made.
Loved at the end it encourages little hearts to ask the Holy Spirit for help when they are temped to use their mouths for bad things. Our mouths can encourage, help, support, cheer on, and much more even when little. It's never too soon to instill these truths!
Don't even adults need these truths?
With a baby on the way, we’ve been gathering together some books to read together that point to Jesus, especially ones that aren’t just children’s bibles. This series, and this book in particular, is excellent in taking us from a problem (we sometimes use our mouths poorly) to Jesus (he used his mouth to speak life into the world) and to the application (use our mouths to live for God). I love that they’re not legalistic books, but gospel-centred and highly applicable too (plus the rhyming is great for young children as well)!
